Dr. Laura Ingalsbe is delighted to join the University of St. Thomas community as a BSN and MSN faculty member and as the BSN Program Director. Dr. Ingalsbe comes to St. Thomas from Gustavus Adolphus College, where she taught clinical and didactic courses for the past six years.

Dr. Ingalsbe has a BSN in Nursing from Gustavus Adolphus College, a Master's degree in Nursing Education from St. Catherine University, and a Doctor of Nursing Practice from St. Catherine University. She also serves as a part-time simulation educator at Abbott Northwestern Hospital.

Dr. Ingalsbe's recent scholarship addresses how high-fidelity simulation supports a new nurse's transition to practice, and has worked with an intradisciplinary healthcare team to incorporate simulation-based education into the new nurse orientation program at Abbott Northwestern Hospital. She believes students and newly licensed nurses need opportunities to practice in a supportive and psychologically safe learning environment where they can express ideas, apply new skills, and make mistakes without repercussions. She embeds this teaching philosophy into her practice in the classroom, simulation lab, and clinical environment.
